I was asked to design the Zimbabwe Europe Network (ZEN) logo for an organisation based in Brussels, Belgium, that helps raise awareness about the situation in Zimbabwe within the European Union.
The logo needed to represent the integration of Zimbabwe and Europe. Having the EU stars overlap the map of Zimbabwe, it shows that the two are linked and that there needs to be support from all the different countries to institute a change and raise awareness.
Once the logo was finalised, I designed their brand identity, which was used to create their posters and fliers. These were usually created for meetings or events that were being held, to encourage attendance and provide more information, like the date, venue and special speakers who are specialists in the topic being represented. There was often a short writeup about the particular issue being discussed and to provide some background information about why the events were taking place.
The designs were also saved for use on their website so that people could view them online and download them to share with friends and colleagues.
The organisation’s stationery was designed so that they had professionally branded letterheads and business cards. They release an annual report of what’s been happening and what needs to be focused on in the coming year which I design as a brochure or booklet for them.
I also created the designs for Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO forum who often work with ZEN to highlight the meetings they organise. I grew up in Zimbabwe so it’s nice to be able to give something back to a truly beautiful country that needs all the support it can get.
