I have been the designer for 3rd Base Nights club promoters in Brighton for a long time now and we have worked on a diverse range of projects together.
I began working with them when they first set up their promotions business and started off by creating their 3rdbase nights logo. They told me what elements they wanted to be included in the logo and I sourced appropriate imagery and retraced it into vectors so it could all fit together stylistically.
The artwork I designed for them incorporated a lot of different techniques to produce them. All of them used a lot of photo editing to illustrate the performers and to create the backgrounds for the artwork. Each night had a rough logo and brand setup so that the regular nights could have new, fresh artwork while still retaining the club promoters visual identity. Even though each night had an individual character, all of the promotions still retained the 3rdbase visual feel to them.
Some of their nights did not always have the 3rdBase logo on them for a number of reasons, like if they were working in conjunction with other promoters or clubs.
On a few of the designs, I created some 3D imagery to really make the name of the night stand out and this involved sculpting the lettering, setting up the lighting and rendering the final image. The render was imported into Photoshop where I could do some final adjustments to it and fit it into the artwork for the club night.
I also created some die cut (shaped flyer) designs which were fun to produce and stood out from the standard rectangular flyers really well.
